Do you know what applications robotic arms have?
With the development of modern society, technology is becoming increasingly intelligent. I’m sure many of you are already familiar with robots—such as simple floor-sweeping robots, window-cleaning robots, or even guidance robots you might encounter when shopping in malls... But do you know what a robotic manipulator is? And what are its applications?
The robotic manipulator is one of the earliest types of industrial robots and also one of the earliest modern robots. It can replace humans in performing heavy labor, thereby achieving mechanization and automation of production. Moreover, it can operate in hazardous environments, thus protecting human safety. In essence, a robotic manipulator is an automated device that mimics certain movement functions of the human hand and arm, enabling it to grasp, transport objects, or manipulate tools according to a predetermined program. Its key feature is that it can carry out various intended tasks through programming.
The primary purpose of robotic manipulators is to help people relieve themselves from heavy and repetitive labor and to take over tasks in hazardous environments, such as those with radiation. As a result, robotic manipulators were first widely adopted in the automotive manufacturing and nuclear industries. With the continuous advancement of robotic manipulator technology, they have now become extensively used in various industrial applications—including welding, painting, material handling, and assembly. Moreover, robotic manipulators are also increasingly being employed in fields such as ocean exploration, aerospace, healthcare, agriculture, forestry, and even the service and entertainment industries.
In today’s world, with technology advancing at an ever-accelerating pace, the key differences between robotic arms and human arms lie in their flexibility and endurance. In other words, the greatest advantage of robotic hands is their ability to repeatedly perform the same motion without ever tiring—provided the machinery remains in good working order! The applications of robotic arms will continue to expand. Robotic hands are a high-tech automated production device that has emerged over the past few decades, offering exceptional precision in operations and remarkable capability to perform tasks in diverse environments. They represent an important branch of industrial robotics.
